You can find three tiers to your septic system. Wastewater makes the septic container from the sewer pipes inside your home (A). Anything that floats increases to the very best and forms the scum part (B). Anything heavier than normal water doesn't float but instead sinks to form the sludge coating (D). In the centre is a relatively clear water coating. This body of normal water contains bacteria and chemicals like nitrogen and phosphorous that act as fertilizers. As new normal water enters the reservoir, it displaces water that's already there. This drinking water moves out of your septic tank and into the drain field (E). A drain field is made of perforated pipes buried in trenches filled up with gravel. Flow director splitter valves are considerably superior to syndication bins or splitting effluent move with a tee installing manifold. Effluent move can be break up 50/50 evenly between the two outlet lines OR alternate the move 100% to 1 area or the other. This allows one half of your leach field go fallow for a couple of months to revitalize soil, prevent overloading, and reduce the progress of bio-mat. Three director valves will allow splitting flow between four individual leach field lines. And seven director valves allows splitting movement between eight separate leach field lines. You can stagger installations with a straight number of diverter valves, splitting movement into unique percentages to dial-in percolation area saturation. Director valves make for an extremely professional and more durable leach field versus using often wildly inaccurate distribution bins or tee manifolds.
The sludge at your tank's bottom level requires periodic septic cleaning or pumping. Even the best bacteria can't fully break down all organic materials, meaning it will start to build-up and take more of the tank's space. If there's not enough room for normal water, the sludge will begin to back up into leach field, your home's pipes or could cause a tank failing.
